Who We Are
We are Pet Camp. San Francisco’s most trusted and beloved pet daycare and staycare facility. We are a band of pet lovers and pet parents dedicated to providing your pet with a safe, fun and caring environment in your absence. We believe in a personalized approach to pet care ensuring your peace-of-mind knowing your pet is safe, happy and loved while you’re away.
We are committed to remaining family owned and operated, to being an active member of San Francisco’s animal and small business community, and to earning your trust every single day.
Once upon a time, we — Virginia Donohue and Mark Klaiman — had 9-to-5 careers. But our fantasy was to create an environment where we could bring our dogs to work every day – to re-create the fun of a neighborhood dog park, where it’s always doggie social hour.
In this fantasy, we knew we wanted a place that let pets do the things that they love to do. We wanted to provide individualized attention, love and care. We wanted to create the kinds of activities that would keep pets engaged during their stay. And we knew we wanted our business to be green and to give back to the community that sustains us.
We set up camp in May 1997. We’ve made lots of improvements along the way and still make our decisions the same way: What would our pets like?
It’s been an amazing journey. Virginia is now the Executive Director of San Francisco Animal Care and Control and no longer involved in day-to-day operations, but rest assured that the values she instilled in Pet Camp remain the same. We are grateful to our camp counselors, our campers, and our campers’ parents who allow us the privilege of caring for their dogs and cats.
