A little prep now means a smoother, happier holiday for your pet!
The holidays are one of our busiest and most joyful times of year between our campers, cookies, and all kinds of tail wags!
Here are a few tips from our Pet Camp counselors to ensure a smooth transition between boarding drop-off and playcation time.
Check vaccinations early.
Before the Hanukkah and Christmas rush, make sure your camper’s vaccines are current and send us their records ahead of time. Submitting early helps us review everything, confirm your reservation, and ensures your pet can check in without delay. You really don’t want to be that pet parent standing in our lobby yelling at us because your camper is missing a vaccine and your flight leaves in 3 hours… and we don’t want to be the ones getting yelled at. You can email your vaccination records anytime to havingfun@petcamp.com.
Give yourself extra time for check-in.
Our Counselors are speedy, but they won’t skip important details – and you might find yourself behind the parent still sorting out those vaccines (see above).
First-time boarder? Schedule a few daycare visits first.
If this is your pet’s first overnight stay, a few daycare visits can make a world of difference. Daycare lets your camper get comfortable with our counselors, explore their play areas, and settle into the rhythm of camp life so their Winter holiday stay feels just like coming back to their happy place.
Pack familiar comforts.
Remember the three T’s! Bring along your camper’s favorite toy, treat or t-shirt that smells like home. Familiar scents help ease the transition! Just as TSA would ask, forget the two B’s: bedding and bowls. Every camper is provided with their own bedding, Kuranda bed, and bowl for chow time.
Our goal is to make every camper’s stay safe, joyful, and full of enrichment whether it’s for a day, a week, or the whole holiday season.
