Can Pet Camp Save the U.S. Economy? Maybe!

Is it possible for Pet Camp to save the U.S. Economy?

Maybe! And if not, we can at least save it over a billion dollars a year — well, sort of.

According to the October 2025 issue of Pet Age magazine, America’s dog parents spent more than $1 billion last year on “dog waste management.” Let that sink in. Circana, the analytics firm behind the data, says the breakdown looks something like this:

  • Just under $1 billion on dog diapers and pee pads
  • Around $100 million on dog waste bags
  • Roughly $85 million on “AO dog waste management” (In case you’re wondering what AO means, we think it means “all other,” but sadly, the original Circana report isn’t public, so we can’t confirm what counts as “AO.”)
  • A modest $5 million on dog waste bag dispensers.

That’s a lot of money to spend on poop.

Skip the Waste — Go to Pet Camp

Here’s the genius solution: send your dog to Pet Camp!

If your camper is spending the day (or night) with us, you don’t need any of that stuff. No dog diapers. No pee pads. We really – we mean really – don’t want or need those here.  No need for waste bags (we use some at the Ranger Station, and we’re definitely not spending $100 million). And we’re positive we’re not shelling out $85 million for “AO dog waste management,” (whatever that is) and who needs to spend $5 million on dog waste bag dispensers (which apparently is in addition to the cost of the bags themselves)?

So, while your dog enjoys playtime, enrichment, and maybe a nap in the sun, you’re single-handedly helping the American economy — by not contributing to this billion-dollar waste cycle. (Pun absolutely intended.)

What Could the U.S. Do with an Extra Billion?

Let’s imagine what else the country could do with the billion dollars that dog parents are currently spending on cleanup supplies:

  • Hire 15,000–20,000 public-school teachers — or give the current ones a well-earned raise
  • Provide after-school care for more than 300,000 kids — that’s a lot of homework help and snacks
  • Fund 25 million days of care for dogs in municipal shelters — now that’s a tail-wagging investment
  • Buy about 15 new F-16 fighter jets, (and we didn’t even get to see them for Fleet Week this year)
  • Or, for a truly presidential splurge, refurbish that “free” Air Force One jet that’s reportedly going to cost nearly a billion dollars to make flight-ready

Sure, we know this billion comes from consumers, not the federal budget. But whether it’s taxpayers or tail-waggers, it’s still amazing to see how far (or not) a billion dollars goes these days.

Saving America, One Poop at a Time

So, the next time someone asks if Pet Camp is helping the economy, we can proudly say:

“We’re saving America a billion dollars a year — one poop at a time. And you’re welcome!”
